All I can say after making these caramel dipped apples is that caramel seriously is the worst to work with. That said, that didn't stop me from satisfying my caramel dipped apple craving. Back in December, SK and I came across Oreo and caramel dipped apples. Being the Oreo lovers that we are, we got some to try and I cannot tell you how fast they were gone. I have been craving some ever since so I decided to tackle caramel and make some myself. It was definitely worth it. If you're a fellow caramel dipped apple lover andddd Oreo fan as well, then you have to give these a try. You will not be disappointed. I thought caramel dipped apples were where it's at but throw on some crushed Oreo's and now we are really talking.
What you'll need:
Sticks (I had skewers on hand so that's what I used)
I used Granny Smith apples, those are always preferred because of the tart and sweet combination when mixed with caramel. However, feel free to use any type of apple.
Stick the Skewers/Sticks down the center of your apples.
Crush your Oreo's so that you don't have large chunks. It works better in this case to have tiny crushed pieces.
Next, place as much caramel you might need based on how many apples you are working with in to a hot pot. Keep your stove on medium heat. Melt the caramel as the packaging instructs.
Once your caramel is melted you can start dipping in your apples!
This is pretty much what your apples should look like once they are complete :)
